-Final Coil are looking at expanding the web site (http://www.finalcoil.altpro.net/) to offer more services. The changes we would like to make will include being able to offer over ten times more songs, a discussion forum, a better site layout and much more. However as this involves some cost, we'd like to know if this site will actually be used by enough people to make it viable. Therefore if you would like to see a better Final Coil site please add your email address to the mailing list (it's a little box on the left of the main page) - you will not be spammed. The list is available only to the admin (i.e Richard and myself) and you can expect maybe one mail per month giving updates on the band etc. Cheers - Pip
NEW EP REPORT
This year's recording was a nightmare!! From the moment arrived it was clear that things were not going to go as planned. Despite drumming well in rehearsal Phil and Rich decided to draft in veteran drummer Pedro Goble (famous for working with acts such as the Scorpions among many others) in order to enhance the sound. Most of Friday's recording was scrapped and the make-shift band recorded just one track (Downer - now a 9 minute soundscape) with Rich before regrouping to record a further four tracks with Pedro on Friday night. The band finally cut versions of Apathy, Rehab, Demons and the tentatively titled It's real (written by Rich) before collapsing. Saturday saw a flurry of activity as an exhausted Phil laid rhythm guitar and vocals in just under two hours before turning over the sessions to Roger (Bass) and Rich (Lead guitar and backing vocals.) Arguably the session is Final Coil's strongest session to date. The songs sound solid and the recording is clearer, although there is some internal debate over whether the songs maintained their original intent or not, there is no doubt that the Final Coil demo is more powerful and focused than the last recording and the pressure in the studio lent an edge to the proceedings that may otherwise have been missing.
The final edit is underway and a sample track will be on myspace by the end of the week.
